Accuracy is the point of MyHomeMag. This policy explains the sources we use and how we check our work before publication.
Sources we use
- Manufacturer documentation, product manuals, and specification sheets
- US government and public sources, such as the US Department of Energy, the US Environmental Protection Agency (including ENERGY STAR and WaterSense), and university extension services
- Building codes, standards, and trade references, such as InterNACHI guidance
- Reputable trade and industry publications
We link to publisher sources for reference. Outbound links in our articles are for reference only; we do not use affiliate links.
Checking before publication
Before a guide is published, factual claims — steps in a process, safety requirements, cost figures, and product information — are checked against their sources. A second read checks for accuracy, clarity, and consistency. Figures that can change over time, such as prices, are presented as planning ranges rather than exact quotes.
Corrections
No process is perfect. If we get something wrong, we fix it. See our Corrections Policy for how to report an error and how corrections are noted.
